Depression
As in anxiety, anyone can suffer from depression.
Depressive symptoms are best viewed on a continuum with one end being the
typical sadness associated with a bad mood that happens to most people once in
awhile, and the other extreme being the death from suicide due to an untreated
depression. The actual treatment techniques may vary dependent on where
the client is on the continuum, the contributing factors, current life
circumstances, strengths, resources, family issues, and the length of the
depressive episode.
If you are depressed, you can feel better. And if you
are suicidal, you are strongly encouraged to seek help before you make a
permanent decision that can't be changed. The following link, while not
affiliated with Veritas Counseling Center in any way, has been found to be
especially helpful for depressed and suicidal persons.

At Veritas Counseling Center, consideration for all of the
various factors that affect the actual treatment techniques that are chosen are
part of the clinical assessment process for every client. The therapist
treats both adults and adolescents, and clients are taught new coping skills
that allow them to interrupt and reduce depressive thoughts and emotions.
In addition, as appropriate, clients are helped to resolve any underlying issues
that may have led to the development of the depressive symptoms.
Individual, family, couples', or group therapy may be utilized depending on the
individual circumstances.
When the clinical assessment indicates that a client may need
an antidepressant medication in order to be able to interrupt depressive
symptoms, the client is referred to an outside prescribing practitioner and
treatment services are then coordinated with that provider.
