About the Therapist
Shannon K. Spellman is a master's level therapist in
private practice with over 28 years of clini cal
experience. She holds a Master's of Social Work (MSW) degree from the
University of Iowa and is a
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)
and a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC) in Arizona.
She also maintains state, national, and
international certifications. Shannon is highly skilled at creating a
therapeutic relationship conducive to change with both adolescents and adults.
She provides individual, couples', family, and group psychotherapy, treating both
mental health and substance abuse problems. Shannon is also trained in
both traditional and invitational interventions helping families and employers
to design individualized intervention packages that have the best possible
chance of successful entry into treatment and continuing recovery for addictions
and other dangerous behavioral issues.
Specialty areas include
treatment for adolescent and adult survivors of incest and sexual abuse,
addictions, codependency, and recovery issues, interventions, challenging adolescents and family
systems, posttraumatic stress disorder, adolescent life cycle issues, family of origin issues
and providing intervention services.

Shannon also provides consultation, offers presentations, and facilitates training workshops for other
therapists on various topics, including working with incest/sexual
abuse survivors, and working with challenging oppositional and delinquent adolescents in
outpatient settings. She utilizes a down to earth yet professional style, in
both her therapy practice and her training, that allows the participants to
feel comfortable and relaxed.
